This 1839 Lg Let Head of 38 Gold Eagle AU55 is a unique example that used the Head of the 1838 design on the 1839 coin.  Later that year they changed to the same Cornet Head they used all the way through 1907.  This coin has a bright yellow luster and has a surprisingly strong strike for an AU55 example.  This is the Final Year of Issue for the 1838 Head.  Priced to sell against NGC Price Guide of 10,500.
